Entrepreneur Category
- To meet the entry criteria you must:
- Have a minimum of $500,000 (CAD) in Net Business and Personal Assets.
- Have at least three years of relevant business management or entrepreneurial experience gained in the past ten years.
- Plan to invest a minimum of $300,000 (CAD) in Regina and Saskatoon, or a minimum of $200,000 (CAD) in all other Saskatchewan communities.
- We will assess the information you give in your EOI against the Points Grid to rank your EOI in the pool of candidates. Candidates are then selected based on their score. Selected candidates are invited to apply to the SINP.
- If you are invited to apply you must submit a Business Establishment Plan (BEP). Your BEP must include:
- Your plan to establish an eligible business that aligns with the points in the Entrepreneur Category Points Grid.
- Your ownership of at least one-third (33 1/3 per cent) of the equity of a business in Saskatchewan, unless your total investment is $1 million CAD or higher.
- Your commitment to the day-to-day management of the business.
- The creation of two employment opportunities in Saskatchewan for Canadians or permanent residents who are not related to you*.
International Graduate Entrepreneur Category
Minimum Eligibility Criteria to Submit an EOI:
- Have completed a full-time post-secondary degree or diploma of at least two years from an eligible Saskatchewan institution.
- Have a valid Post-Graduate Work Permit, with at least 24 months remaining.
- Have lived in Saskatchewan during their academic program (no distance-learning programs or accelerated academic program are eligible).
- Have a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 7.
Those who meet eligibility criteria and are invited to apply and must be able to show knowledge of their Business
Establishment Plan (BEP).
Those chosen from the EOI pool, invited to apply and approved by the SINP must:
- Reside in Saskatchewan.
- Actively own and operate a business in Saskatchewan for at least one year prior to applying.
- Own at least one-third (33%) of the business and take part in the day-to-day management. Ownership must be the result of a verifiable investment made directly by the applicant, either from their own equity or from an eligible source.
- Demonstrate that the business is generating the minimum required revenue amount after one year of operation.
- Please refer to the “Eligible Sources of Investments/Revenue” section of the Application Guide.
- To prove this, applicants must submit the documents outlined in the checklist.
- Applicants must use a professional third-party financial service provider when providing these documents.
- Sign a Business Performance Agreement (BPA) with the Government of Saskatchewan. This will be given to you by the SINP after your application is approved.
Farm Owner and Operator Category
Application Criteria:
- 1. Net Worth:
- Must have a personal net worth of at least $500,000 CAD.
- Net worth must be accumulated legally.
- 2. Experience
- At least three years of experience in:
- Farm ownership
- Farm management
- Practical farming experience
- At least three years of experience in:
- 3. Business Proposal:
- Provide a detailed proposal for a commercial farming opportunity in Saskatchewan.
- Investment required is at least $150,000 CAD.
- The proposal must be based on research or coursework relevant to Saskatchewan agricultural conditions.
- Hobby farms do not qualify. The farm must have a minimum annual revenue of $10,000 CAD.
- 4. Intent Grid Score:
- Score at least 55 points on the Farm Owner/Operator Category Intent Grid (consult the Application Guide for details).
- 5. Refundable Cash Deposit:
- Sign a Performance Agreement and make a $75,000 CAD deposit in trust.
- The deposit will be returned if you meet the Performance Agreement terms within two years. If not, the deposit will be forfeited to the Province.
- 6. Exploratory Visit:
- Make a mandatory exploratory visit to Saskatchewan for at least five working days.
Nomination Requirements:
- Medical Conditions: You or a dependent family member must not have a serious medical condition.
- Criminal Record: You or a dependent family member over 18 must not have a criminal record.
- Custody Disputes: You must not have unresolved custody or child support disputes.
- Misrepresentation: You must not have committed fraud or misrepresentation in your application.
Fees:
- Processing Fee: $2,500 CAD
- Deposit: $75,000 CAD
Young Farmer Stream
Application Criteria:
- 1. Net Worth:
- Must have a personal net worth of at least $300,000 CAD.
- Net worth must be accumulated legally.
- 2. Age
- Must be under 40 years old at the time of application.
- 3. Experience
- At least three years of experience in:
- Farm ownership
- Farm management
- Practical farming experience
- 4. Business Proposal:
- Provide a detailed proposal for a commercial farming opportunity in Saskatchewan.
- The proposal should be based on research or formal coursework relevant to Saskatchewan agricultural conditions.
- Hobby farms do not qualify. The farm must have a minimum annual revenue of $10,000 CAD.
- 5. Employment Skills:
- You or your spouse must have employment skills based on education and experience to supplement farming income.
Accompanying Farm Employees
Eligibility Criteria:
- 1. Work Experience:
- Must have at least one year of work experience in the past 10 years as a Farm Employee with the nominated principal applicant.
- 2. Language Proficiency:
- Must have a language score of at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4.
- 3. Points Assessment:
- Score a minimum of 60 points on the points assessment grid.
- 4. Application Form:
- Complete the SINP 100-8 Form and provide a valid nomination certificate number from the principal applicant.
