Federal Skills Trades

Eligibility: This program is for skilled workers who are qualified in a skilled trade.
Requirements:

You must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time) in a skilled trade within the five years before you apply.
You need a valid job offer of full-time employment for at least one year or a certificate of qualification in your trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.
Language requirements need to be met according to the specific trade’s standards.

Objective: To address labor shortages in specific skilled trades by attracting qualified tradespeople to Canada.

- Express Entry System: All three programs are managed through the Express Entry system, which is a points-based system used to manage applications for permanent residence. Candidates are ranked based on the CRS score, which considers factors such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.
- Application Process: Candidates create an online profile in the Express Entry system. If you meet the criteria for one of the programs and have a high enough CRS score, you may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
