Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

Eligibility: This program is for skilled workers who are qualified in a skilled trade.

Requirements:

You must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time) in a skilled trade within the five years before you apply.

You need a valid job offer of full-time employment for at least one year or a certificate of qualification in your trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.

Language requirements need to be met according to the specific trade’s standards.

Objective: To address labor shortages in specific skilled trades by attracting qualified tradespeople to Canada.

Express Entry System: All three programs are managed through the Express Entry system, which is a points-based system used to manage applications for permanent residence. Candidates are ranked based on the CRS score, which considers factors such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.

Application Process: Candidates create an online profile in the Express Entry system. If you meet the criteria for one of the programs and have a high enough CRS score, you may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
